sure, but megaupload for free users doesn't work 100%, and then if you want to pay you have to pay megaupload or rapidshare for bandwith

i was only offering this as an alternative, to bring money to the site (here, psprelese) itself. i'm in by no means saying get rid of the regular downloads section, as this is comfortable for some, but there are people who would rather skip paying for something so bogus. (i mean the download sites...just about everytime i download from MU it freezes 50% because of user traffic >.<)

also torrents might be a way of safely transferring large files without having to use megaupload's restricted free user bandwith. you will also be able to also avoid having to download multiple parts of one game. i have a good internet connection for a wireless laptop, my upload speed is generally 100Kbps more than my download, given utrorrents good personalization settings. i also run peerguardian to block antip2p and other various people.

the more and more i think on this, the more it uploaders should be restricted to those already at the site or people the bosses can trust to make sure no one is goofing around and messing with people's private computers. i stand behind the (and this would be for the torrent section, not the regular downloads) 5 or 6 a day free download, it seems like a fair amount to let basic users get to.

of course premium users would get first response (lets say as opposed to a both a premium and basic request at the same time) and i was thinking as a way to combat people just donating once, have public accounts for free users that are actually posted in the torrents section, and private accounts would be mailed electronically via psprelese (therefore not posting premium account requests in the forum) and troubleshooted if any problems should arise.

i was just reading all the threads last night and figured this might be a way to bring money to the site, as opposed to megaupload and rapidshare, i hate using them both myself >.>

    ****EDIT****
i am not sure about PSX2 games, but alot of old systems are considered null, which means you can share them and do as you please. users wouldnt be paying for games, as you could already download them given free basic user priviliges. the thing they would be donating to is help, better response time on requests, and all the other things that come with donations (most important, helping the site out)

im working on a XBOXisozone,DCisozone and GCisozone account, but i cant transfer money from my card to paypal, so until that happens i cant donate here or get a spot there. as soon as i do i will have more titles to share.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] <--downloaded and verified it. (i only seek to do this because tpb is so impersonal and everyone hits and quits, noone ever seeds really)

this is a complete list of games i could share, all my utlities for each system, besides the xbox, are on data dvds as i cannot yet afford a proper TB external hdd (idk how im gonna be able to burn any more dvds as i ran out and dont have $$$ for another spindle). i would be able to share much more than games, utilites and the such, like music and walls (about 10gbs of walls...), which could be made into console-sized walls, movies, i have 3 100pk spindles full of mainstream and cult classics.

plus, they are all very disorganized and scatter among the data dvds, so any sort of utilites would have a much longer delay in response, but i could supply nonetheless. i also have about 100 DVDR+s full of music spanning many genres and eras, so i could share that upon request too

as for the list, i had considered bartering all my systems and games and everything on craigslist, till i thought of this

i am very committed if the bosses wanna do this, mainly to bring more people to the site whom can bring more news, informative material, downloads, etc but i understand if not, this being very different from how the site already works.

also (in the very far future, it seems) it might bring someone who can help me get all of my data organized and on said TB HDD, then i could really seed properly for requests and not have to delete after a set amount of time.

just something to mull over, no rush, i just spend alot of time here and want to see it kept running!

    thanks guys

I've read it over and I'll converse with the other staff first. I will say that it is possible but getting the rules and parameters right will be tricky as torrents are quite a bit harder to control the use of then ddls. So you may see it but not right away is all.

BitTorrent’s Future: DHT, PEX, and Magnet Links Explained

Last week The Pirate Bay confirmed it would shut down its tracker permanently, instead encouraging the use of DHT, PEX, and magnet links. This move confounded many BitTorrent enthusiasts, who were confronted with confusing new terminology and technology. Time for some explaining.

The Pirate Bay's recent confirmation that they had closed down their tracker since DHT and Peer Exchange have matured enough to take over, was coupled with the news that they had added Magnet links to the site. This news has achieved its aim of stimulating discussion, but has also revealed that there is much confusion over how these technologies work.

The key thing to understand is that nobody is being forced to use Magnet links or trackerless torrents. While these long-standing technologies may prove to be the future, they will co-exist with tracker-enabled torrenting for quite some time. For now, nobody will be forced to immediately change their existing downloading habits, although it may be wise to switch to a BitTorrent client that is compatible with these technologies.

In an attempt to clear some of the mystique surrounding DHT, PEX and Magnet links we will walk through all three briefly, hoping to assure those who've become confused earlier this week.
    DHT and PEX in action

    DHT

Using DHT instead of trackers is one of the things The Pirate Bay is now trying to encourage, and torrent downloads that rely solely on this technology are often referred to as "trackerless torrents." DHT is used to find the IP addresses of peers, mostly in addition to a tracker. It is enabled by default in clients such as uTorrent and Vuze and millions of people are already using it without knowing.

DHT's function is to find peers who are downloading the same files, but without communicating with a central BitTorrent tracker such as that previously operated by The Pirate Bay.

DHT is by no means a new technology. A version debuted in the BitTorrent client Azureus in May 2005 and an alternative but incompatible version was added to Mainline BitTorrent a month later. There is, however, a plugin available for Azureus Vuze which allows it access to the Mainline DHT network used by uTorrent and other clients.
    Peer Exchange ("PEX")

Peer Exchange is yet another means of finding IP addresses. Rather than acting like a tracker, it leverages the knowledge of peers you are connected to, by asking them in turn for the addresses of peers they are connected to. Although it requires a "kick start", PEX will often uncover more genuine peers than DHT or a tracker.
    Magnet links

Traditionally, .torrent files are downloaded from torrent sites. A torrent client then calculates a torrent hash (a kind of fingerprint) based on the files it relates to, and seeks the addresses of peers from a tracker (or the DHT network) before connecting to those peers and downloading the desired content.

Sites can save on bandwidth by calculating torrent hashes themselves and allowing them to be downloaded instead of .torrent files. Given the torrent hash – passed as a parameter within a Magnet link – clients immediately seek the addresses of peers and connect to them to download first the torrent file, and then the desired content.

It is worth noting that BitTorrent can not ditch the .torrent format entirely and rely solely on Magnet links. The .torrent files hold crucial information that is needed to start the downloading process, and this information has to be available in the swarm.

Pirate Bay links cf. Mininova links: When the Magnet link specification first came out, in January last year it called for a particular format ("base32 encoded"). The links that EZTV, Mininova and ShareReactor have displayed for some time all conform to that original specification. In May of last year the specification was changed, in favor of "hex encoding", and that is the format of the links being displayed by The Pirate Bay. Torrent clients should accept either format.
    Compatible Clients

All the main torrent clients: uTorrent 1.8.5, Vuze 4.3.0.2, BitTorrent 6.3, BitComet 1.16, and Transmission 1.76 (and others) support Peer Exchange and DHT (via a plugin in the case of Vuze). Neither BitComet nor Transmission yet support Magnet links but Transmission is planning to include Magnet link support in the upcoming 1.8 release. Bearing in mind that no site, including The Pirate Bay, has yet abandoned support for traditional torrent files, there is plenty of time for support to be added.

We hope that this article has cleared some of the smoke that was generated by The Pirate Bay's announcements earlier this week. There is no need to panic, cry or be angry, and it's not a problem if you're still confused after reading this article. Torrents will still be available and aside from some extra downloading options thanks to sites that add Magnet links, nothing drastic will change in the near future.

I still prefer Megaupload then torrents. no seeding (or seeders) necessary and downloads at the max speed of my internet connection immediately and never slows down. What do I click for the fastest downloading of porn and movies, while avoiding doing time in a federal institution?

    sure

its hard to beleive anything said about TPB, as nothing is absolute with those guys till its down forever, really. they try shutting it down all time..

also anything we would be sharing would be COPYRIGHT NULL (as said in one of my earlier posts) now i cant say this about other uploaders but anything i will be distributing will be copyright null, i dont like sharing my psp titles unless period, i was just mainly saying i have these should a dead link occur and someone else wants it. then that would be fine and it would be my risk uploading it.

so you doing time in a federal institution is zilch unless you got a ton of CP on your computer, but 1)i dont have porn so you wouldnt be getting any from me anyways 2) and then you actually have to have pretty much CP or be supplying newly released material or cp really

so what if i dont think paying megaupload or rapidshare is very fair to the site, maybe you do, and thats fine, i was simply offering this as an alternative to that, as reasons i previously stated

soooooo, you know, you dont have to download anything. should the big guys upstairs decide to it and all.

again, alternative, not making it the norm. just an alternative.
